The zombies are back to take over your lawn and your home! And it’s even madder this time! Plants versus Zombies 2 has become a fast favourite of mine over the last few days. I loved the original Plant vs Zombies game so much that for a while, I went on a zombie-bashing game spree, where I downloaded everything from gore-based zombie shooters, to something more civil, like Stupid Zombie. And through it all, Plant vs Zombies remained my favourite.

Call me a grown up child, or an adult with the heart of a child; I don’t mind.

This game seemed to me what Candy Crush is probably to half the universe. There’s only one thing to say about this game, and that is Fun!

The interface is quite similar to the first version, and there have been a few visible and invisible changes made to the interface that has enhanced the look and feel of it all.

The game follows the same premise as the first. Plant a bunch of different plants to defend your home against a zombie invasion. Of course, this time,

you have a Taco-fetishist neighbour who takes you back in time and teaches you the essentials of Taco-Making and Consumption, while getting you through different levels of the game.

The rules are pretty simple – collect sun, and plant these weirdly amazing collection of plants including Peashooters, cabbage hurling Cabbage-pults, boomerang throwing Bloomerangs, Walnuts, and other types of plants, all hurling projectiles or causing some form of damage to the waves of zombies that are trying to break through the front lines to get to your home.

The game is set in different parallel universes, all thanks to Crazy Dave and his time travel which has taken you along for the ride.

You get to unlock some really cool features including power ups and plants with more special abilities. The game is free to download and has an extensive campaign mode that you can play, with each map offering an average of about 20 levels.

Available on both Appstores for devices running iOS7 and up and Android 2.3 and up; if you’ve loved the first Plants vs Zombies, this is something you should definitely get!
